Unique HOBY Academic Requirements for:

LEAD 124, Character Education - two credits:
The course requires that the student writes a single post-HOBY Seminar Program reflection paper of not less than four typewritten (double-spaced, #12 font) pages, "providing reflective feedback" to their HOBY regional seminar sponsor about thier leadership experience; and, provide a proposed draft concept for a local community service-learning project. Thus, the paper will essentially have two parts, focusing on each subtopic outlined in the previous sentence. Students must email this paper to their individual HOBY Regional Sponsor, and to Dr. Donna Rice, drdonnausa@gmail.com, (your ASC 'instructor of record') not later than 10 August(Summer), 10 December(Fall), or 10 May(Spring), depending upon which semester you are registered in.

ID 179 - College Options - three credits:
This course imparts a thorough knowledge of college admissions and financial planning process, plus provides tools for successfully accomplishing that task. It covers fundamentals of a successful scholarship research effort, admissions procedures, essay writing skills; plus important collegiate academia, as well as day to day survival skills. The student is exposed to detailed reverse planning skills for achieving critical academic and personal objectives in a time constrained environment. The program provides each participant a thorough understanding of the college admissions process, real world costs, unique financial aid packaging systems colleges employ, and the Federal financial aid process. Finally, extensive tools for improving testing skills that include SAT and ACT practice tests, plus regular classroom tests are an integral part of key sections. LEAD 138 - Community Service-Learning, "An American Ethic" - two credits:
This leadership course incorporates classroom instruction presenting the concepts of community service-learning and civic/ethics education. The student initiates a proposal for a service-learning project, and participates in approximately 30+hours of inquiry and execution of a service-learning project in the student's local community. Through the seminar the student examines what concepts are involved in community service-learning project, the intricacies of civic dilemmas or problems, and the collaborative and problem-based nature of examining these questions. The student is taught how to make their goals clear, how to understand the local conditions involved in their project, and how necessary motivation and practice are to his/her individual or team service-learning project. General Guidance:
Subsequently, your course number, title and grade will be made available to you on an official ASC college transcript that you can send to any school once you have officially registered as a degree-seeking student. The cost per credit is a nominal $60 per credit, and you have no additional expenses. Your College Success DVD will automatically be sent to your home address, at no charge, once tuition payment is verified by ASC in a weekly report to the College Options Foundation and RTG. All regionally accredited institutions reserve the right on accepting transfer credits from other regionally accredited institutions per local policies and degree requirements of a student's chosen major area of study. As previously stated, the HOBY Leadership Program and these Adams State College academic credits will set you apart from the average high school student seeking college admissions.

Tuition is $60 per credit and is payable by check, credit or debit card on the day you register. Without a tuition payment your registration is never complete!

First, click the REGISTER HERE icon (above right on this page) and follow the procedures provided. If you have any questions about these procedures, email your question(s) to your preferred Mentor by clicking on the CONTACT US LINK at the top right and selecting your desired mentor.

Second, you must pay for these credits at the time of registration by credit or debit card, or by check with a printed bill from the ASC Registration site.

Finally, Adams State College will automatically send you a transcript at the end of the semester, once your grade has been received from your ASC instructor of record, Dr. Donna Rice. You can order additional transcripts by Clicking Here and ordering them for whatever individual need you might have.
